Coach Mentoring Program: Session 3

The HTEC CareerConnect Coach Mentoring program is wrapping up semester one! Coaches and students are beginning to develop strong relationships and together, creating career-focused goals.

During Session 3, students and coaches worked on an instant challenge, which is an activity related to their CareerConnect pathway course. One Coach cohort is Business related and they completed a Shark Tank activity and presented on a business plan for their community. The second cohort is Design related and their instant challenge was to create marketing material for HTEC’s Prospective Student Night that can be submitted to Mr. Wiant as ideas for marketing to middle schools. The students and coaches came up with some brilliant ideas!

Once winners of the Instant Challenge were chosen, we moved on to Career Research. Students and Coaches were allowed time just to think about their different options: What would be your dream job? Are you interested in being your own boss? Are you interested in a career in STEAM? It was important for students to identify or discuss what they value in a job, what type of working conditions they look for, distinguishing their strongest skills and listing their top interests in order to find careers that align with those interests.

Coaches and Students discovered a lot about various careers that related to their CareerConnect pathway course as well as other careers aligned with their passions.
