Mr. Lapaire’s Principles of Engineering class had an awesome and informative tour at the Denver Water Recycling Plant!

During our 2 hour tour, we discussed each step of the process, including: water treatment, filtration, and flocculation where the water eventually is used to irrigate parks, golf courses, schools, commercial applications, etc. -- Please see recycling process below. As our tour guide mentioned, any purple sprinkler head you see in Denver, is recycled water that is treated through this specific plant. Throughout this tour, we also learned about the level of expert engineering required to build these systems. There are 30,000 gallons of water going through these systems at any time, and the plant has to be able to sustain that.

CareerXplore job shadows trips are a great way to get students out of the classroom and apply what they are learning to a real work environment. In addition, students are able to explore career opportunities available in engineering, whether that be in water or elsewhere. CareerXplore events allow students to maintain an open mind and begin thinking about how they actually pursue their CareerConnect pathway as a career in the future.
